Received the follow messages:
1) Works like a charm!
2) No problems at all.
3) What can I say? One of the first games that has something to do with EA working out of the box under Win2000. Runs very well, no problems found in the 3 days I've been playing.
4) Could only see a black screen, but still hear the opening audio and video. No solution on the web page, but many others are having problems.

Game works and installs normally. But when you hear "Incoming Transmission" and the movie starts to play, game can hang sometimes but you can still move the cursor. The only solution I know is to kill game.exe process and then re-run the game.

I've been able to get it to work, but you have to change the shortcut's compatibility mode.

Right-click on the shortcut to Red Alert 2, and select Compatibility. I believe it works if you change the compatibility to Windows 95.

A small white box appears in the center of the screen and locks up when you autostart the cd then i take the ra2 cd out and put it back in and it loads a black screen and locks up, then i take the cd out and put it back in and it loads the normal setup screen in 680x400 mode and lets me get to the point where it starts to install Ra2 and then it cant even progress past 0% complete due to locking up again, if you take the cd out at this point it returns an error that it cant read a sound file. And if you put the cd in it locks up again.... Why???

Hm...at least you guys seem to be able to install...I've read the other threads about RA2 and I couldnt find a solution for my problem.
I run setup and get the "Encountered an error...must close etc..." message. But the weird is that I have Yuri's Revenge and its setup actually works...also...RA2 setup didnt work with any of the compatibility options. Most strangely though is that back in a month or so I had installed it(and later uninstalled) and now it wont work, I didnt update winXP or anything in long before RA2 being installed. I think we better use older OS's to run these older games afterall, or there will be always some kind of issue.

I found that it runs perfectly if your right click on the shortcut, and run the program as administrator, hope this helps.

RA2 (from the "updated" First Decade release) still does not support TCP/IP connections. Windows Vista does not support the IPX/SPX protocol required for RA2 to function for network gaming, which is half the fun. You can try these steps (which didn't work for me): http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1200750&SiteID=17
