The installation tells you that the game might not run properly because you are not running a Windows 9x operating system. You can install it anyway.
The installation completes without any more errors or questions.
When you launch the game, it looks fine... but it invariably locks up in 10 to 30 seconds and must be "End Tasked" or killed.
Activision confirmed this might be an issue because the networking subsystem is redone under Windows 2000 and told me that they won't fix this problem because Windows 2000 was never designed to be a gaming OS.
I am running Windows 2000 SP2 with all of the compatibility updates.
