Place the disc if its the DVD-ROM edition or discs if its CD-ROM in the drive, install and patch. Also, when playing make sure to go into Windows Firewall and make Call Of Duty 2 an exception to the firewall otherwise you'll get crashing issues.

The only problem i have as of yet, is that it takes longer time to load the game, but after that i runs great, it may be your machines that are poorly konfiguratet, i run on a Athlon 64 3200+ with 2 gb of ram and a creativ X-FI sound card (dont use on-board sound, takes to much CPU power (also in XP))

Installed Call of Duty 2 on Vista Ultimate 64. Using BFG GeForce 8800GTS.

Did get major display issues as previously described (grey blank screen). Turning antialiasing to 2x resolves this. Could then put everything else up to maximum.

Issue I have had is with punkbuster. Was not updating itself so had to do a manual update. Then when running the game I get kicked out because of "Inadequate O/S Privaledges". Tried running as Administrator and in XP SP2 Environment but still get the same problem.

In reference to point about regarding taking a long time to load the game. I gave the Users group Modify Rights to the Activision folder (and cascaded the permissions). Game now opens instantly.

Hope that helps some people and that they could help me :o)

Running vista 64 ultimate.

Game runs fine... except when enabling punkbuster, either through the options or by joining a server, then it crashes. Tried updating pb manually, running cod2 with admin privleges and it still crashes when trying to enable pb.

I am running Vista, Nvidia GeForce 7650 GS.

The game runs great, for a short time.

I am kicked out and told to manually update my PB.

When I try this it still will not work.

I have heard NVidia cards are having trouble running CoD2 on Vista. I doubt this is the PB issue, but it may be the issue for those with higher end Nvidia cards.

Problems at start up when running with a Creative X-Fi sound card - lengthy delays before main menu shown. Also occurs when changing sound settings under Options.

My favorite game. Built a new blazer, went to load up it up and no go. Found out late that I could explore the Disk 2 cd and launch the setup file and get readable installs for each cd. After it loaded, Patched to 1.3, I crossed my fingers and launched it to a black screen. Then I remembered being able to go into the launch shortuct on desktop and select properties, then select Compatibility tab, check mark the Compatibility mode "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" I selected Windows XP (Service Pack 2), apply, OK. The program launched right in. Having trouble with punkbuster not being updated after playing a bit, might have to do it manually. I only play online, never single player. Always gotta get da otter guy! Good Luck! Looks like I might get to move my upgrade blazer to the main station after all. Food for thought, there is something to be said about making 2 partions on a fresh build with dual boot so you can reboot into good old xp-Pro 32 bit games! Wish I would thought of it. WTF-Rod

Does NOT work under Vista Ultimate x64! Not even with new priveliges and/or running it as admin and/or under XP SP2 compatibility...

Singel player does work (very slow) but Multiplayer crashes the moment the screen turns black.

I have a 6600 quad core/8800gts 648 and mine will only work in single player. Tried running as xp and disabling onboard sound etc, still no joy. Anyone found a surefire way of getting on multiplayer yet? I am dismayed with vista as its not backward compatible with quite a few xp favourites like medal of honor etc. Microsoft need to pull their fingers out.

I have a 6600 Quadcore, 8800 GT and 4GB Ram. Have experienced slow loading issues but other than that it plays ok. Mind you its no better than it was on my old 2800XP and a 9600pro with 1 GB ram. My main gripe is l can't update to the 1.3 or above patch. The loader does not find the install directory or a valid key. In online play (which is all l do) punk buster constantly kicks me but fails to produce error logs as to why. My key is legal so thats not an issue. Either Microsoft or Activision should come up with a fix for this soon.

Everyone who has a problem with PunkBuster kicks in multiplayer, should update PB manually. The best solution is to download PBsetup -> http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php . It's working on my Vista Home Premium 64 bit.

To fix the Black screen problem, here's what you do:

1. Right-Click on the COD2 Shortcut and Left-Click "Properties".
2. Click on the tab that says "Compatibility" at the top.
3. Click the box and select "Windows XP Service Pack 2".
