RC2.  Game runs fine, but Advanced option
panels (Display, Sound) crash.  Can make changes manually in registry.

SP3 installed. DirectX 9.0 passes all compatibility test. Hangs program with Assert error "sithCamera.c(1288): pThing2 !=((void *)0)"

1) graphic flickering
2) a few minutes playing and some keys don't work, e.g. ESC.

P.S.: The latest patch from LucasArts IS installed...

Game works up to the beginning of the actual playable game, then the camera position messes up and it is only possible to quit from there... the gane does not appear to accept other normal in-game input either.

Windows Compatibility mode has no effect, other than increasing minor graphic glitches in the menus.

It may be possible to load a save game saved under an earlier OS in order to fix the camera angle.

16-bit installer on this one, so it won't install on Windows x64. Shame!

Theoretically, "Indy & the Infernal Machine" will cause problems under Windows XP, and Lucasarts' official stance is that they "offer no support for this game under Windows XP".

Realistically, all one needs to do is to run the MS Media Player first, and *then* run Indy. With MP open and kept in the background, the game will work flawlessly under XP.

Note: avoid the patch for this game. It actually gives more problems (such as occasional freezing of an end-level enemy) than cures.

...and to fix camera problems, open "Advanced Graphics Options" from the game's internal menu, enter the options and exit them.

If Indy freezes in place, type "fixme" in the game's console.

Tried to get this to run for ages.
Found the post from vess.
With Windows Media player in background the game works beautifully.

Would never have thought of that.

The game works fine up to the 9 level but then the 4th door won't open. And if you unstall it won't reinstall.

The only problem that occurs with me is that when the characters speak, no sound comes of it. Any fixes? :/

Has anyone been able to fix the Assert Handler problem? The rest of the info is:
sithCamera.c(1288): pThing2 !=((void*)0)
Okay - button

I've not been able to find any solutions through google, ask, or msn search engines. The unlikely "Windows Media Player running in the back ground" is of course no help. Any suggestions would be worth while.

Any one got any ideas to help me please???? Tried LUCAS ARTS they where quite helpful but the people they referred me to to ( ACTIVISION/ RED OCTANE) were less than helpful, in their responses! from reading your posts on this site I would say you guy`s know more about the game than the people that are supposed to know all about this game

With the whole Assert Handler thing. I found I also got that in the Nub's tomb level. The problem is that there is supposed to be a cut scene first. So what I did to fix the problem was jump and somehow land only just touch the next platform. The cut scene should appear and allow you to keep going. You might have to do this a few times to jump perfectly on the edge. And with the whole infernal Machine level i have no idea how to fix it. The only way would be to download a save game that has it fixed.

I've played this game on two different vista's. One of them the fourth door on LEVEL 9 wouldn't open, and I uninstalled, and TRIED to re-install, and it didn't work. Now I can't install games more than 6 years old my computer. I then used my Brother's Computer, and it worked perfectly, no problems at all. So, I guess it just comes down to luck if it will work on Vista or not. I give it 4 our of 5 stars, because more often than not, everything will run as it was designed to.

Only "PARTY?" Working? The game works, kinda. The game works perfectly until halfway into Babylon! I've tried everything, Windows Media Player, Configuration Changes, etc... so, while my XP is screwed-up anyway, it should still work...right?
