Game runs, but occasionally crashed to the desktop on the map screen with no error.

I noticed that when this happens, it always happens at the same gametime. The way around it is to note the crash time; reload and pause time the minute before it will crash. Then go down into tactical view, and move the mercs around for a minute or two. When you go back up to map view you will have got past the crash point. Save and play on.
