HTC One Smartphone Review: Android Empowered @ HotHardware

After some delays in manufacturing, the highly anticipated HTC One smartphone is officially here. Although this high-end smartphone has not received the same amount of buzz as Samsung's much-hyped Galaxy S 4, the One has many compelling features that will give Samsung some serious competition among savvy consumers.

The HTC One features a full-metal, zero-gap unibody design along with a number of software features that set the phone apart, including a new home screen with HTC BlinkFeed, and HTC BoomSound which combines front-facing stereo speakers with dedicated amplifiers and Beats Audio integration.

As the flagship smartphone in HTC's line-up, the One features a 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor along with 2GB of RAM. The phone is available in both 32GB and 64GB models, depending on your carrier.

This is HTC's answer to the Samsung Galaxy S 4, the iPhone 5 and any other high-end smartphone on the market currently. Does it live up to its moniker? Is it really "the One?"

GX Gaming KMH 100 Gaming Kit Review @ ThinkComputers.org

Sony KDL-55W905A Review @ Techradar

That innovation is called Triluminos, and as we'll discover later, so long as you handle it with a little care, it really is impressive. Its name also handily raises echoes of the legendary Trinitron technology that served Sony so spectacularly well back in the days of CRT (remember those?).

Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD4H Motherboard BUG Update @ PC Stats

There is a major conflict / problem with Gigabyte's GA-Z77X-UD4H series motherboards and the LSI SAS3041E-R SAS/SATA RAID card. It goes something like this - when a videocard is installed in the PCI Express x16 or x8 slot, the LSI card installed to the PCI Express x4 slot won't be recognized by the system. There are only two workarounds that PCSTATS could find... We're posting this to save fellow users some troubleshooting this issue.

OCZ Vertex 3.20 SSD Review @ Guru3D

OCZ Technology has quite a number of SSDs in their lineup from Octane, the Vertex 3, Vertex 4 and more recently the Vector series. The competition is steep though, the market is saturating and we have seen a steady decline in the sales prices of SSDs, I mean what Samsung and Micron are doing these days is pretty impressive.

While stability and safety of your data have become a number one priority for the manufacturers, the technology keeps advancing in a fast pace as it does, the performance numbers a good SSD offers these days are simply breathtaking. 450 to 500 MB/sec on SATA3 is the norm for a single controller based SSD. Next to that, in the past year NAND flash memory (the storage memory used inside an SSD) has become much cheaper as well. Prices now roughly settle at just under 1 USD per GB. As such, SSD technology and NAND storage has gone mainstream. The market is huge, fierce and competitive, but it brought us where we are today... nice volume SSDs at acceptable prices with very fast performance. So OCZ figured, let's take the Sandforce 2281 based unit from the shelves, pop some 20nm NAND flash memory on there and release a fast and reliable SSD at a sweet-spot price. That my friends is the essence of the Vertex 3.20, a Vertex 3 equipped with new 20nm NAND flash memory. The Vertex 3.20 is a SATA III (also known as SATA 6G and SATA 600) SSD that has been beefed up to shock, awe and conquer. The device can top 500 MB/s in both read and writes, pure unadulterated performance from a single SSD.

Not one test system in my lab has a HDD, everything runs on SSD while I receive and retrieve my bigger chunks of data from a NAS server here in the office. The benefits are performance, speed, low power consumption and no noise. You can say that I evangelize SSDs, yes Sir... I am a fan. Today's product reached read speeds of 550 MB/sec with write speeds of 520 MB/sec. When you think about that performance and place it in relation to real-world performance (if the source is equally fast), that means you could copy the entire contents of a CDROM in just over a second to the SSD and a DVD in less than 10 seconds.

Thermaltake Urban S21 Review @ OCC

The Thermaltake S21 did not preform very well under high load, and I think it mostly has to do with the lack of cable management. Yes, in a smaller case you are going to see an increase in temperatures, but the enemy is often just cables blocking air flow, and this appears to be what happened here. The lack of support for a top mounted fan didn't help either. Even so, I like to test my cases out as stock, but having the option would lead me to try an extra fan that could potentially lower temperatures. Even though I haven't found a way to properly measure how long it takes temps to drop from load to normal idle, my observation simply concludes that it would take a very long time. Air was getting trapped in the top corner, and I could feel the warmth. Are the temps really out of the realm of normal? No, and I've used cases that are far worse.

Samsung 5-Series NP540U3C-A01 13.3-inch Ultrabook Notebook Review @ PC Stats
