Ever wanted a guide on hard drive performance, where you can compare the performance of a wide range of hard drives? With 32 hard disk drives for comparison, the guide is fleshing out real nicely.

In this performance comparison guide, we will test and compare the performance of all the hard drives we can get our hands on. This is similar to what we are doing in the Intel Core 2 Processor Performance Comparison Guide.

Here are the latest updates in Revision 4.2 :

AMD's latest 800 series of motherboards have seemingly taken over the marketplace, and with native SATA 6G and the ubiquitous NEC USB 3.0 controller, as well as cost effective 6-core processors, there is a new push for high end AMD motherboards. MSI is attempting to dominate the high end with an affordable and powerful solution with the 890FXA-G70.

Overall it is an excellent board at a very competitive price. MSI did a very nice job on this one, and I am seriously considering using this particular board as the basis for upgrading my primary machine (it is running one of the first 790FX AM2+ motherboards with the not-so-impressive SB600 southbridge). So with that particular recommendation, it is a no brainer that it receives the Gold Award from PCPer.com.

In short, SilenX have tossed every popular heatsink technology into the EFZ-100HA1 heatsink and capped it with a languid 100mm x 15mm vaneaxial fan. Exhaust air is quietly directed down through the 17mm wide aluminum fins, so that's a plus. The single 100mm non-PWM fan rotates at 1000-2000RPM depending on the computer or manual fan speed controller setting. The entire heatsink weighs just 364 grams and installs onto Intel socket 775/1156/1366 and AMD socket 754/939/940/AM2/AM3 processors.
