HP has announced the appointment of former Microsoft chief software architect Ray Ozzie and former McDonalds CEO James Skinner to its board.

From The Inquirer:
Ozzie is best known for founding Lotus Development Corporation and inventing Lotus Notes, but after IBM bought Lotus he also spent a few years at Microsoft where he was chief software architect. He left Microsoft in 2010 after what many thought was a personality clash with then Windows chief Steven Sinofsky, but remained a high profile figure in the software industry.

Skinner's obvious history in the retail world will be of interest to HP as it tries to take advantage of its extensive sales channel to fend off rivals such as Lenovo. Bennett's experience in the world of media could signal the enterprise IT firm's ambitions beyond flogging hardware and software and providing customers with services.
