So, obviously I'm new to this website, but I was hoping for (quite) a bit of help. I'm running (or rather, was) WIN XP on my Dell Dimension C521, and I do not want to upgrade. (Even though Vista installation fails anyway) My problem is this: everything is failing.

Creative 1080 driver installs but doesn't work on XP 64

Creative is almost by itself advertising compatibility with XP 64, and so I purchased this Creative Live! Cam Socialize HD 1080 in good faith. I updated the firmware and the driver, and Device Manager had no difficulty showing the new Imaging Device as Creative Live! Cam Socialize HD 1080 (VF0680).

Anyone know the intracacies of Windows Update?

I've recently spent a week reinstalling my WinXP and my various apps and utilities. A long job and I don't wish to discuss why, as it's a long story. But having reached a few days ago a reasonably 'safe' state, I went to the Windows Update website to fetch a huge batch of updates to WinXP that I needed.

XP Pro crashes on start up

Hi everyone I have a 2 year old sony vaio running XP pro. it crashed one day and when i restarted using the on/off button it would start initially, and then hang immediately. I tried system restore but it would not work as it would hang at `logging off`, and i had to `kill` the m/c using the on off button.
