If you use VDMSOUND program you can run it with sound. Rhere are still some issues with blood on xp because of certain instructions used in blood. even using programs to strip these out, and the fact that vdmsound tries to work around the problems, the game will stutter in xp.
DOSBOX emulator runs blood in xp fine, although INCREDIBLY SLOWLY because of the emulation.
I think until the sourcecode is released for blood (build sourcecode and duke 3d source is already out) and someone codes a win32 port, we're flat out of luck for playing it right on xp.

It works at default resolution without VESA on XP SP1, delete the SMK files and set the soundcard to SoundBlaster 2, IRQ5 DMA1,5. Sound is slightly choppy, best to kill as many programs (including explorer) as you can.

Knew I would have trouble with this one but gave it a try anyway. Game loads up and shows Monolith logo clip (albeit with scratchy sound) but then exits to Windows desktop without an error message before anything else appears. Windows XP event log indicates "hanging application mmc.exe," which is the Microsoft Management Console. Tried running program under Win 95 compatibility mode and tweaking program properties (e.g., memeory settings). Since I'm not interested in setting up a separate partition to run DOS and Win 95, I guess I am stuck unless someone has some other bright ideas.
