No driver for Vista, but works under VueScan with the driver that comes with VueScan.

HP scan jet resolution in 2000 is limited to 150dpi. But a neat trick is to scan the image as a black and white photo then not selecting any areas in the scan wizard switch to colour photo and presto the scanner takes twice as long to produce a 300dpi resolution image.

You can get full scanning features by installing the
software for the 5100C scanner.
Download PrecisionScan 1.02 for the HP ScanJet
5100C scanner here:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/software/sj263en.exe
Download the patch for Windows 2000 here:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/software/sj269en.exe
Download the patch for the copy utility if you own an USB printer here:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/software/sj536en.exe
Instructions:
1. Boot the computer with the scanner turned off or disconnected.
2. Install HP PrecisionScan 1.02 and DON'T reboot yet.
3. Run the Windows 2000 patch
4. Reboot with the scanner connected and turned on.
5. Windows will complain about hpppt.exe not starting, so go to
Start-Programs-Startup and delete the shortcut to "HP Parallel port
test"
6. Open the registry (start menu - run, type "redegit"), go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRunOnce and delete
the item with "hpppt" in it.
7. Reboot.
8. If any drivers for the 5100C scanner got installed, uninstall them (don't
uninstall the software!)
9. If not already installed, install the 4100C drivers found on the Windows 2000
CD.
10. (Optional) install the patch for the copy utility if you own an USB printer.
The HP PrecisionScan software for the 5100C works
flawlessly with the drivers for the 4100C that were on the Win 2000 disk.
Happy scanning!
