I followed the directions for installation, having copied the CD to my hard drive, and I got the vide error with the 0bits nonsense.
I switched my display settings to 16-bit color rather than 32 on my video card NVidia GeForce 6150, and now the game's working just fine.
Essentially, I went directly to the application accessing my video card to change from 32 to 16 bit color, but I guess if you just right click on your desktop, select properties, and go to appearance or display (whichever one gets you to the menu with the monitor and screen size settings) and switch to 16 bit color there, it might also work.
I did not have to change screen size.

I have recieved the same no title error listed above. Also when doing a video test from the "setup.exe" I got the following message.

"Your video display supports 0 colors at a resolution of 800 x 600 pixels. King's Quest VII: The Princeless Bride requires 256 color support at 640 x 480.

Use Windows Setup or your video Card's display-switching program to change your video driver. "

Maybe this will help the troubleshooting path, I'll post more if I get it to work.

copy content of CD to C:\KQ7CD

run Setup.exe C:\KQ7CD from HD

copy "SIERRAW.EXE" from CD to installed directory C:\sierra\KQ7

change in the link Symbol the setting to C:\SIERRA\KQ7\SIERRAW.EXE C:\SIERRA\KQ7\RESOURCE.WIN

The working directory is the copied CD directory! C:\KQ7CD.

The game should run with no modus settngs in the Compatibility.

On my PC's it is running: AMD64 3000+, 512MB, 160GB SATA-HD, Windows-XP Home SP2 and AMD XP1800+, 512MB, 40GB IDE-HD, Windows-XP Prof. SP2

In order to make King's Quest 7 work on Windows 2000 or Xp, it's really pretty simple:

1)Run the Setup program on the CD and install it into the default directory.

2)copy the file SIERRAW.exe from the CD into the directory C:Sierra\KQ7\

3)You might have to edit the Resource.win file becuase it assumes that your cd-rom drive is E:(just change all the E's to whatever letter your cd-rom is.)

4)Go to the Start menu and find the icon that should launch the game(the red and gold one) and go to its properties. Simply delete the S on the SIERRAWS.exe and make it SIERRAW.exe . This should solve all your problems.
(I know because I seriously worked on this for like 10 hours!)

Just to make clear of what the last poster said- what you need to do is:

1 copy sierraw.exe from the cd into the kq7 folder were you installed it, in this case C:\SIERRA\KQ7\

2 right click the king's quest 7 icon that's supposed to start the game, choose Properties and in the shortcut tab where it says: C:\SIERRA\KQ7\SIERRAWS.EXE

C:\SIERRA\KQ7\RESOURCE.WIN

change to:

C:\SIERRA\KQ7\SIERRAW.EXE C:\SIERRA\KQ7\RESOURCE.WIN

and click apply. That should work...

I had absolutely no problems playing this game. Haven't completed it yet, though.
