ive added a fake printer and disabled the spooler,
and it still says exe.msr has crashed.

To the Poster of message 10800, I just want to thank you greatly for the link which was exactly the right cure for our game problem. After installation of a new harddisk and reinstallation of Windows XP we suffered the same problem with Stunt Rally as you and did not yet install a printer as we are looking for a new one. Now finally our two boys are enjoying their racing once more but for some time we had been experiecing tears and frustration....Thanks for posting the solution to this!!

Finally found the answer to the infamous "_msr.exe" failure message when trying to start the game. It ran perfectly before I reinstalled the XP SP2 OS. Adding new versions of Shockwave and Quicktime didn't help. The answer? A PRINTER HAS TO BE INSTALLED OR THE SPOOLER SERVICE DISABLED!!! Who would have thought?? I found the answer here:
