I bought this magic the gathering game for pc. When I install it and run, it wont run. I believe it is because the game is out of print and no longer compatable with the window xp.

Installed to Windows XP (compatability mode), then copied the \Magic directory to my Win2k machine. There is an unofficial patch to version 1.3.2 out there. Download it and run it. Works great.

Installed on 95 machine. Applied 1.25 and 1.3 updates. Exported registry settings as above. Created shortcuts on the 2000 box to the executables residing on the 95 box it's installed on. Applied settings to run shortcuts in NT4 SP5 compatibility mode. 95 and 98 compatibility did not work, nor did no compatibility setting.. kept getting Assertion errors for glue.c until I tried NT4 SP5 compatibility. Runs great but in Shandalar the caracter often moves too fast to control, probably due to speed difference between the machine it's running on (2.0GHz W2K) and the machine it was installed on (450Mhz Win95).

Install it under Win9x, and
then make sure that you install the 1.25c update. Then use regedit to
export the two following keys: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicroProse
and HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicroProse.Boot into W2K and import the
reg keys and then you should be able to play the game with no problems.
You may need to use SETWIN95 on the executables (i.e. MAGIC.EXE,
DECK.EXE, and DUEL.EXE).
