Installed SP3 on my Gateway XP ME 2002 laptop. I did this to fix a problem with my "USB Device" found in Device Manager that was not working properly. So, it fixed that problem with my USB laser printer. But, it created a new one with my mouse that I haven't been able to fix. It's not rebooting, thankfully, but the mouse works for maybe 5 minutes and then it doesn't. I have to unplug the mouse and plug it back in for it to work. It's not the mouse, or the driver. It is the USB drivers for sure. I've uninstalled SP3, printer problem still solved, but new mouse problem not. Still trying to fix it. I will report back.

I installed SP3 2 days ago on 3 computers. My Dell laptop E1505 works fine, my Intel and AMD destop computers are frozen solid. I can boot up but I can not surf the net or open any programs or tools. I can not run in in Safe Mode either. I've heard that AMD is not compatible with SP3 but neither is my Intel desk top computer. I finally had to use my Windows XP disk and do a repair on Windows and updated Windows up to SP2. DO NOT INSTALL SP3.

I have Windows XP with Media Center 2002, which I have kept up to date with the Microsoft Updates but I have now tried 3 times, wiht increasing care, to install Service Pack 3 and each time it has knocked out Media Center. I have not found a fix.

Hi everybody, I downloaded sp3 2 days ago, a big file about 533mb, have had no problems installing, my AMD based computer seemed to lap it up, no problems so far everything seems to be error free..Can't seem to work out why some people's machines work, and some dont... It sounds to me the main problem is how you guys have your rigs set up, I use my rig for music production only, and a bit of internet use... I'm going out an a limb here, it sounds like a driver conflict to me.. I have never had a problem installing any service pack, or anything like the problems you guys are having.

I put this on my Gateway Laptop and now when I boot up there is nothing there except a blue screen. No icons..nothing at all. However, if I put the USB thing in the port on LT for my mouse, then the icons load but I can't get anywhere by clicking on them. This puts me in a position of not being able to get anywhere on my LT to remove SP3, if it is in fact, removable.
