I too was told by the rep I needed to upgrade for $199.99 + tax to use Quick Books Pro. I couldn't open files or register. I have been using this program on XP for over 2 years when it stopped. I did a system restore to a previous date, and it started up. I now back up after every use just in case it happens again.
