it worked fine using daemon tools but somehow the sound keeps crashing, so how do i get this scummvm anyhow,

Copying both disks of monkey island 3 onto a folder in the desktop and then running scummVM to play the game worked great, cheers to the person who gave us that advice, the game doesnt crash anymore or give me any problems, thanks!

Simply use ScummVM, and copy the required files from your Monkey Island discs.

Crashes after firing the cannon. Cutscene goes fast forward. Then error comes : "Error 80070057: Locking the sound buffer".

I had the skipping video/audio you descibed for NT 4.0 under Windows 2000, too. Fixed it the following way: Select Start/Run/dxdiag
Under the 'Sound' tab, set the sound acceleration to 'minimum', close dxdiag and run the game as described. ('minimum' is the second position from the left; I have the german version, and don't know if the description is different in the english version)
