32-bit oem to 64-bit ???

This is a discussion about 32-bit oem to 64-bit ??? in the Windows Software category; I was wandering if anyone knew a way around buying the retail version of windows vista 64 bit edition if i have already purchased the 32 bit oem edition? I've tried upgrading it to the 64 bit but, the microsoft support line says it has to be retail.

So any suggestions i'd greatly appreciate.

Sorry, I do not know of any workarounds other than buying a new PC with the 64 bit version included ...

I think the 64-bit version falls under a special category, meaning Ultimate(Retail) or OEM only.

32/64 bit keys are interchangeable. The disks are the only things different. A 32-bit Home Premium key, for example, will work with no problems (activation or otherwise) when used with a 64-bit installation. Just some food for thought.
