8 bit color depth

I'm using Xmanager to work on a remote mAchine with cadence,but it requires 8 bit color depth to work well. I tried to set Xmanager's propertyes forcing it to work with 256 colors, but without any result.

I think the problem is my video card, a SIS 730s, that doesn't accept 256 color formality.
Somebody can help me to solve this problem?
