A Question of RAM
This is a discussion about A Question of RAM in the Windows Hardware category; Hi all, I was wondering, can i use PC133 SD-RAM when my motherboard has a 400Mhz FSB (QDR 4x100) with my P4 mounted on a Jetway P4XFA? If i set my FSB @ 100, but set my DRAM clock to 133 what will happen? This is becuase i dont know what RAM to get; PC100 or PC133.

One more question, my mobo supports PC2100/2700 DDR RAM, is there any real world gain by using DDR RAM over SD-RAM?
Thnx!

A lot to be gained if you use DDR instead of SDRAM.
As to your other questions. THe PC133 setting is for the memory alone and not for the FSB. So at 100 or 133 the FSB will remain 400

Thnx a lot mate, that helped a lot.
What kind of differnce can i expect from using DDR tho?

roughly 80%... depending
Pentium 4's are much more reliant on the memory bandwith then are the Athlons
So you will see some big improvements
