ACPI disabled in Windows 2000, How can I get CPU cooler in i

This is a discussion about ACPI disabled in Windows 2000, How can I get CPU cooler in i in the Windows Hardware category; I disabled ACPI because of the IRQ sharing problems, so everything runs fine now. But my CPU used to be about 28C idle, and now it's never below 46C idle. Quite a difference! CPU Idle doesn't work AT ALL for me, and other programs don't seem to support NT or 2K.

So that proves ACPI is a good thing cos it ruduces the load on the CPU, so why yours is getting hotter is cos it having to do more work now.... What was the problem with IRQ sharing by the way?

ACPI has nothing to do with HLT.
