AGP 8X on ASUS intel 845pe chipset

This is a discussion about AGP 8X on ASUS intel 845pe chipset in the Windows Hardware category; I have a ASUS geforce 5200 128 mb but somehow i cant get it to run at AGP 8X from the bios. i have the latest drivers for my mother. B. can anyone help me get it to AGP 8X??.

According to Intel, the 845pe chipset has an AGP 4X interface which is "compatible with universal AGP8X graphics cards"
 
This means that while you can install AGP 8X cards, and they will work, they will only ever be able to run at AGP 4X speeds.
