Am I the only one who thinks Win ME sucks?
I bought the promo upgrade to ME from Win98 only. TONS of problems. Tried a clean install, still problems. More crashes than 98, more blue screens. When I found out that Win2k supported all my apps except for a few dos games, I jumped ship.

Another thing that irritated me was that stupid movie maker-which I have no use for and could not uninstall. Microsoft sure has some balls to force stuff on that you cant uninstall. That and the countless problems. Did I mention problems were rampant...I dont remember since its been a while since I converted to 2000. I know you cant pick and choose 2000 components, but with ME considering it was an upgrade to the 9x line, I foolishly thought that Microsuck would allow you to pick and choose what you wanted on YOUR COMPUTER. Maybe Im wrong here, but personally I dont need this company "...anticipating consumers needs." If MS pulls this sort of BS on WinXP, Linux may get a jump on MS.
One thing I dont like already is MS .NET strategy dealing with subscription based OSes. I personally think that a one time fee ought to be enough. For some people, this may be the greatest thing since sliced bread, but this could cause some major issues. Just look at the security patches MS is dealing out like cards. Little mistakes like this could be even greater with the .NET strategy.
Im not happy with MS right now. Win2k is the best OS theyve put out, but the way theyre going support for it is gonna be dropped in 2 years or less.

Nobody know everything about computers. I dont, and neither do you, JJ32. Other people here like Clutch, Inferno2000, SHS, and Phillip are knowledgable people, but they dont know everything. Things will still go wrong for them. No one's exempt from PC problems...although, that'd be really nice.
There's always something new with computers: new hardware, new standards, new gaming engines, new apps...so there's always something new to learn. But I dont think anyone knows it all. Bill Gates doesnt know it all.

You guys are right! I don't know what I'm doing and I don't even deserve to be on the same level with people who can't even install Win Me correctly! Yeah, I'm a real loser. Yeah, I have never installed it (67 times it's been now on different configurations. Be it upgrade or what have you) and I always have problems. Yeah Win ME sucks I agree. IT IS SO DIFFICULT! Your not an idiot but you have made yourself a jack@ss here with the flaming attacks. You do have some great knowledge to add here, but no one's an idiot here. We can get some good feedback from you.
Granted there is a difference of opinion on the OS preference, but thats all an opinion and You are one of the very few experienced people who doesnt ME, which is astounding. You dont have to give up ME if you like it. I gave it up because it didnt work well for me. I see no problem with running an OS that works great for you.

I'm just wondering. Are you calling me an idiot JJ? I just want to know? I can see how getting windows to install without any complications gives you "mad skills" as you referred to them. The real question is could you get it to work with complications? Because, with all your flawless installs that you've performed, I imagine you've gained no useful experience other then pressing "next". Also if you were calling me an idiot I'd like to have a closer look at your immense amount of knowledge.

No big deal, pshh just fix those up unless it is a code related issue like I'm working with Symantec on in PCAW 10. LOL! Regardless, I always figure it out then I just move in for the kill. BOOM! How did I call myself an idiot? Just to let you know I always win in the end as well(with PC issues), persistance is the key, as well as a little common sense. I am chill, I was just asking a question. I wasn't able to tell who you were calling an idiot? I just didn't understand why it would be me.

HarU, once again, while you do prefer ME, you do keep it in check. I know I kinda freaked out back there, but Im sure not every OS will be peachy for everyone.
