Anyone know of a good scsi DVD rom drive?

Looking for a scsi DVD rom drive - it needs to be region free - so I need to know of a good quality model that can have its firmware updated to remove region protection. it doesn't need to be any faster then 12 X.

Can't offer a specific suggestion, but I can give you a lead: DVD InfoMatrix - www.inmatrix.com

You might also check Yahoo!, as I've seen pages that listed region free DVD-Roms.

I love the Pioneer slot-loaders.
If you can still source the 32x/6x model that ships as region free.
The 40x/10x is region locked but as far as I know fully flashable to unlock it.

OP
Thanks people!! I'm gonna start looking for a replacement for those crappy drives bundled with the Creative Encore packages - The build quality is dreadful - they spend all day spinning up and down instead of reading the disc and seem unable to resume dvd playback after a pause that's any longer than five minutes!! To top it all off they're IDE too and unreliable IDE at that - so thanks for all the help - much appreciated. (phew - can I put the soapbox away now please?)
