APCOMPAT.EXE wont work

Im trying to use APCOMPAT. EXE to run the Command & Conquer Red Alert setup but when I press OK then APCOMPAT. EXE just freezes and I have to end its process and after I do THEN the setup. exe for red aler runs but it still says that it wont run in win2k.

The games section says APCOMPAT.EXE would work with red alert.
 
Any ideas?

if it's supposed to work, then you shouldn't be choosing the file that makes the cd autorun but instead choose the setup files inside the CD by opening apcompat and right clicking the CD and choose open, search for setup.exe and then double clicking it. it's okay if u have to end task the thing it always happens to me.

I am selecting the setup.exe on the red alert cd.

looks like it doesn't work then, when i have that problem, i run it in winme.
