ASUS motherboard with PCI modem card

I am running XP and it does not detect my modem(however detects the network card). How can I find out if my modem hardware is bad and I need to replace it. Or this is software config problem. Can the BIOS detect that this card is working.

Thanks in advance for any help

OP
It does not seem to work either. As before, I can install the modem using XP but when I go to Diagonistics and query modem, says modem is not connected.

Pretty fed up with this whole problem. Any other suggestions.
THanks
