ATA133 drives any good ones??
Im looking to ditch my 60gb 5400rpm/ata100 drive in for something large (80gb+) and with ATA/133 support. What are some good drive recomendations from the users?? Ive looked at Western Digital since i would like to go with them again since both my drives are both WD drives.

Also looked at maxtor since they make some good solid drives.
Im not fond of IBM drives so not looking for a drive by them.

Have a look at Seagate too, they seem to be very fine drives, not sure if they are over the 80GB Drive mark tho and i havent had any problems with there drives. Unfortunately can't say the same about Maxtor in my experience, had 2 dodgy drives from them.

I could be wrong (heaven forbid), but I think Maxtor is the only one that has 'em out.
It just shows how much real impact ATA133 has actually made - hardly any!
ATA133 is Maxtor's standard and only they seem to be actively promoting it.
I'm guessing that the likes of Seagate, WD & IBM would have to pay Maxtor some kind of licence fee ti use ATA133.
As the real world differences between ATA100 & ATA133 are more or less un-noticeable I feel most companies are squarely aiming two fingers at Maxtor and will wait for the real differences - Serial ATA.

I ust have to say that ive run seagate/maxtor/ibm/western digital drives so far and of the 3 maxtor drives ive had 2 of them have broken after a year each. Running 2 ibms atm and authough they have a bad reputation for reliability ive had these since the 60gxps were first released and they still work perfectly.
I can't complain with Maxtor. I have had the DiamondMax 20GB ATA100 7200 RPM for 2 years now and it still runs great. Quiet and fast. I also have an old 4GB Western Digital Caviar drive and it too runs great still.
