i have no clue about the Athlon XP fans, but the ones that come with the regular Athlon "work". they'll keep it cool as long as you have good case circulation and as long as you don't overclock....much.

They work fine, though I would suggest scraping off the thermal pad and using some thermal goop (unless it's Radio Craps).
 
I just put a system together for a guy I work with and the Taisol fans that come with the CPU's do a good job for normal use. They definitely aren't overclocking material, but fine for everyday use.
You can buy better coolers however.
