hi there!
i hope i get some help here.
i'd like to do a backup of some netware shares from windows with ms backup. (tried this with UNCs and network drives)
Backup calculates the size of the files, and gets a correct value..
something around 8gigs. then it starts copying the files.. but all files are 0 bytes in size...
i tried other backup software -- doesn't work.
i tried to backup to a file(not to tape) -- doesn't work.
i tried windows shares -- work.
i tried local harddisks -- work.
any ideas / information ?
thanks in advance

I will assume you have the correct networking settings on the backup server to access the resources on netware. First look into permissions. You may not have the correct permissions in the NDS. Next, create mapped shares to the novell's sys drive (or another resource if you are not going to capture the whole HD).
I have been able to do more things on a mapped share than with a unc path. Enterprise backup software (I personally like veritas's) should let you connect through the share. Unfortunately that functionality is usually limited to the enterprise versions which are expensive. See if you can get a demo first.
