This is a discussion about Bad News! in the Windows Games category; Gamers everywhere, I just read that the Quake 2: Evolved project is on hold, due to use of some leaked code. I just tried this mod over this past weekend, and it had some great potential. If you haven't had a chance to check this mod out, depending on the level of interest, I may have a temporary mirror up.

As far as I know, the Quake III source is not GPL'd yet, I would imagine that will happen within a year, though. The mod source is available, but I don't know what that includes.
The Quake 2 source it out, but I don't think it is GPL yet. The GOLK code is illegal code that came from the Quake3 game itself and shouldn't be used. As for the project it will continue, I don't think these guys are going to give up on something that they spent so much time on. Its just a matter of rewriting some code here and there and continuing on.

AlecStaar, it was only after seeing your thread with the screenshots that I decided to dig out my Quake II CD and reinstall it, just to play this mod. It was definately worth the time and effort, too.
