Hi everyone i have a old computer, it has a ECA motherboard. . . . currently it has a PII cpu (slot 1). . . ya i know its really old. . but i heard i could put a PIII on it. . . but in order to put it i have to update the bios.

currently it has a PII cpu (slot 1)... ya i know its really old..
but i heard i could put a PIII on it...
but in order to put it i have to update the bios...
the motherboard is
P6BX-A+ Rev. 1.1
i found the motherboard on ECA webpage...
but they keep talking about PCB 1.x and 2.X
and i'm not sure which one its mine.. or how big the bios space is...

but now i realized that there is two different file when you go to support and find the bios version...
so i'm kind of confused..right now...

My guess is that your Revision number is your PCB number. Clearly, one of the bios updates will support a PIII. But, I am not sure that physically you can just slap a PIII into the slot of that BX box. If you want to do something like that you will have buy a powered upgrade adapter. Go to this page: http://www.powerleap.com/ You can read (or watch the video) about what is involved in this procedure. You will also need to consult whether this upgrade would be compatible with your board. I put one of these things into a Gigabyte 6BX computers four years ago and turned it from a PII to a PIII. Never had a problem.
