breaking sound with SB Live! in XP
While playing in winamp or bsplayer sound breaks and continues play. This is happening many times during a movie or song. I'm not doing nothig else on computer. Integrated soundcard AC97 desn't do it.
While playing in winamp or bsplayer sound breaks and continues play. This is happening many times during a movie or song. I'm not doing nothig else on computer. Integrated soundcard AC97 desn't do it. I have latest drivers for XP from internet. In win 2000 it was the same. Could someone help?

athlon xp 1600
256MB DDR333
gigabyte GA-7VA mainboard
radeon 8500 vivo
sb live! value
2x pci netcard realtek 8139
integrated AC97 audio

Unfortunately your problem is very common with the live cards.
Only reason i upgraded to the Audigy is to get rid of that very same problem.
multiple possible fixes include:
1. Pci latency, adjust this in your bios if you can. somewhere between 32 and 64 is preferable. WARNING, this may fix this problem but it may also cause others!. use with caution.
2. Latest VIA 4-in1's.
3. Try a different pci slot, as a matter of fact... try em all. juggle slots with other devices, sometimes there will be only 1 combination of devices to slots that will work right. (god, i hate VIA)
4. Disable everything you are not using, such as com ports, lpt ports, onboard audio.
5. chuck the sblive out da window.
