Broadband gets disconnected if I run some apps

This is a discussion about Broadband gets disconnected if I run some apps in the Windows Software category; Ok. My Windows 2000 is acting really weird. When I start up Photoshop or Winamp. . my internet just stops. ICQ works but the rest is not working. What can be causing this? Can I solve it by downloading a patch for Windows 2000? Please help me.
