burnt 80 min cds with a file over 700mb

i'm having a very odd problem. i have a movie thats over 700 megs, so i have to use a 80min cd which can fit 730 megs right? once i burn it, there's no problems during the process of burning but when i try and copy the file back onto the hard drive, it hangs at the last 30 or so megs.

yeah but i think i'm using like different units
u know when you right click on a file in windows explorer...
it may be like 700 MB, but then it will also say like
(730,000,000 bytes)

thats what i mean by 730...

yeah i know what you're talking about, like how my 20 gig drive only shows like 17.4 until you go to properties ... well when you pop a CD in you can view the CD Information and it will tell you the exact size of the CD ... most of them are around 703mb or 704mb ... windows would only read it as 680mb or so if it were a drive

Does your motherboard have a VIA chipset?

If so, this may be the problem with your transfers to disk. The VIA chipsets currently have abug in them that breaks transfer of files over 100MB. Just and idea.

I have an AOpen AX-34 with the Via Apollo Pro and have had no problems moving 650MB+ ISO files around. However, I have had problems copying files that large (a backup of a Progress database) from a CD back to a harddrive on several machines. I tried burning this file 3 times and gave up. It did the same thing; burned fine but couldn't be copied back to a harddrive.
