These Thumbs.db files... Let me introduce you to my hell:

I switched off the caching of thumbnails on my pc recently. I want to delete all of the left over thumbs.db files generated thus far.

You'd think it would be as easy as going to search, searching for thumbs.db or *.db and that would be the end of it. OHHH NOOO. NAAAH MATE cos dat would be too easy no?

Search tells me, there are no thumbs.db files on my pc. But they are there because when you go into the add files option in Nero Express you can see those 6-8k buggers sitting there. When I delete them, they go to my recycle bin so I KNOW they exist. It will take me years to delete them if I can't use the XP search function. Even through msdos I can't see these files.

I have got show all files and show all system files set in folder options in windows explorer (XP). Why in the name of Greyskull can I not see them?

Every single forum either replies with "just use XP search" or "switch off caching" or make sure you have "show all files" - I have done all that. I'm about to get medieval with my pc.

Help. For the love of everything that lives, HELP.

To see all of the thumbs.db you have to also uncheck the folder option Hide protected operating system files (Recommended).

You can find all of them with search if you set your search to include hidden files and folders. Click on More advanced options in search to find it.
