cant go back to xp
This is a discussion about cant go back to xp in the Windows Hardware category; hey everyone. so yeah, i have vista right now, and i gotta say, im not liking it. i have the cd key for windows xp MCE sp2 2005 on the side of my computer. but i dont have the disc. i tried to get one, but the ones i get wont recgonize my sata harddrive.
hey everyone. so yeah, i have vista right now, and i gotta say, im not liking it. i have the cd key for windows xp MCE sp2 2005 on the side of my computer. but i dont have the disc. i tried to get one, but the ones i get wont recgonize my sata harddrive. does anyone know how to get xp back on my sata hard drive? any help would be extreemly appreacited.

Method 1)
This requires floppy drive and one diskette.
You need download SATA/RAID drivers for your motherboard or SATA card from manufacturer's website.
Then extract the zip / self extracting file to diskette.
Then when you start XP's setup, you'll need to press F6 when prompted, at start of installation.
Follow on-screen instructions.
Method 2)
Integrate the drivers to installation media.
This requires XP CD, which you have, CD burner and one blank CD.
(CD-RW is better option, in case it does not work at first time...)
And program called NLite.
Follow this guide:
Install Windows XP on SATA without a Floppy (F6).

I totally agree with Wilhelmus, you need to pesss f6 and install the third party sata controller at the start of wetup.
