Can't install WIN XP on a K7S7AG
When I try to install Windows XP Professional Edition on my K7S7AG motherboard, I receive the following stop error (blue screen): Stop 0x0000007A KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR. When I try to install Windows XP Professional Edition on my K7S7AG motherboard, I receive the following "stop error" (blue screen): Stop 0x0000007A KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR.
I've read that's caused by some incompatibility with the IDE controller, and then I've tried to press F6 while booting from the WIN XP cd and using the drivers provided with the motherboard cd copied into a floppy disk, but I kept receiving the same "stop error". I also receive messages that WIN XP couldn't find the video, LAN, and everything else that's onboard.
My question is: how should I proceed to install Windows XP on a K7S7AG without having any incompatibility problems, since I can't install the drivers BEFORE installing Windows XP?
Please, help me! I've already lost a whole week of sleep because of this Blue Screen!!! ;(
My hardware (already tested, no physical problems with any of it):
- Mobo: ECS K7S7AG LU
- CPU : AMD Duron 1600
- RAM : 256Mb DDR - 333 Mhz
- HD : Quantum Fireball lct 20 - 20Gb
- Video, LAN, Modem, Audio: Onboard.

A complete long shot, but are you installing XP from a DVDR?
I only ask as I have been trying to install some software from my own mastered DVD onto a laptop (with XP already installed) and I get the same InPage error. I have checked the disk for write errors and it is fine. Seems some of the older drives have trouble reading DVDR's.
You never know.

I've just taken a read about InPage stop errors here and it appears that whilst it's primarily a disk driver issue, other things such as bad RAM may cause it.
You say that you've checked the machine setup and everything appears fine but you may still want to try a different stick of RAM or run a memory test just to rule out that possibility.
If you can verify that the memory is ok, I'd suggest that you make sure that your PC's BIOS is up-to-date. You can download the newest version here and also give the latest IDE drivers a go as well (if you haven't already done so).
Hope this helps.

the best solution to this dilemma is to download a driver that is compatatbal with windows xp ( in most cases a driver designed for windows 2000 will work just as well
Glad to hear you got it sorted.
One to remember me thinks.
