I have Civ3 version 1.117f and WinXP Pro.
My graphics card is a Diamond Viper Ultra (nvidia TNT2) and i have the latest drivers.

Whenever i start up civ3 the graphics are all blurry and distorted. the only thing i can c is the intro and after that i cant see anything. the only way i could get out is to restart my computer and only then could i c my desktop again.

i am also running a dual boot with winme on the same computer and civ3 works without any problems.

does anyone have the same problem, which they have solved?

I had a black screen with a bad refresh rate before I did this, not the same problems as yours but it might help.

Try the win 98 compatibility mode on civ3.exe

Sorry for the delay.

> right click on your civ3.exe file and select properties.
> choose the compatibility tab.
>In there choose the Os you want.(win98 for civ3..)

Hope this helps

Not that this helps at all, but I'd like to point out that Civ3 does run under WinXP without the need for any kind of Compatability Mode - it just runs.
Was playing it literally 15 mins ago.

It wouldn' t run on my machine without the comp mode for some reason.
Actualy it would run but the screen would go beyond it' s refresh rate capabilities.. ;/

I had to download a video patch to get Tribes 2 working, but I sometimes still get a problem when the video switches around the intro (i.e. intro works fine, but can't see a bl...y thing after this. Not sure if I have latest Civ 3 patch...

but when it goes, it goes just fine!
