Can't Run M.A.X.2 in Windows 2k...HELP!
This is a discussion about Can't Run M.A.X.2 in Windows 2k...HELP! in the Windows Games category; I've tried to run M. A. X. 2 in windows 2k pro a few times now and everytime it pops up a box saying not compatible with this version of windows. Since it's a win 95 game I tried using the application compat tool on many different settings but still get the same message.

Since it's a win 95 game I tried using the application compat tool on many different settings but still get the same message. Also tried VDSound and just a straight dos prompt but that wouldn't fool the setup.exe prog either. If any knows of any other tools or tricks in win 2k to try let me know please! I loved this game back in the day and now that I've got myself all psyched up to play I can't! Other strat games just aren't the same. Thanks.

If you do have service pack 4, try this:
Click Start -> Run. Type "regsvr32 %systemroot%\apppatch\slayerui.dll", without quotes.
Then create shortcut for the executable.
Right click the shortcut, select "Properties" (last entry in the context menu). You see a tab "Compatibility". Click the checkbox to activate the compatibilty mode, set it to Windows 95 (in the dropdown menu). Try running it.
