cat5 cable

Can anyone recommend a good CAT5e for use outdoor? (shielded/unshielded). This will be run arially between building. thanks.

CAT5 + outside = BIG trouble. From what I have read CAT5 attraches lightning and such. I think you might be better off using a piece of fiber optics. Remember the limit for CAT5 is like 300 something feet, I think.

Yea, I know about the lightning, I have ports get shorted out 4 times so far. Wireless sound good. I don't know how reliable it is with about 12 workstations though.
Fiber was on the option list, don't know if they want to spend the money on it.

if you're just going between two building, you shouldn't have any problems with reliability. Don't go with a cheap home solution though.... I would recommend the Cisco Aironet hardware. We use Aironet at work to connect two offices about 2 miles apart, and it works really well...
