CAV CD-R/RW, the next Gen?
Gimme a timeframe of the first appearance , if ever, of such a CAV (32Xmax, 40Xmax) CD-R/RW drive. Given the following problems and limitations on current generation: 1. Why is the changing from a writing to a reading operation on a CD-R/RW drive is so slow, often more than five seconds? 2.

2. why is there no trueX drive over 16X speed in CD-R.
3. why is it so nosiy for a CD-R/RW in writing a disc.

Well, I can only comment on #3 there:
I just got my 12x10x32x Teac CD-RW from UPS today, and have burned four CDs so far, and haven't heard a peep out of the thing. Nice and quiet. One of the best thingsa I've got in this machine, considering it cost me $157 [shipped], and is the second or third best CD-RW [according to StorageReview.com].
Well, back to cleaning out my hdd....

I'm interested now.
Who does have a noisey CD Writer?
With my Yamaha 16/10/40 I don't hear any noise whilst burning.
They even removed the fan out of this model which was in previous Yamaha drives, so even that doesn't make a sound.
The only noise I really get is when I eject the CD at the end - tray opening & closing, must be quieter!
