CD writer Plus 8250i
Greetings, I've recently upgraded from NT 4. 0 to w2k Pro and i'm experiencing some problems with my cd writer. It's a HP 8250i and despite everybody says that it is compatible with w2k the drive letter doesn't appear and the software says that there aren't any compatible devices on my system.
Greetings,

It's a HP 8250i and despite everybody says that it is compatible with w2k the drive letter doesn't appear and the software says that there aren't any compatible devices on my system. The device manager identifies my cd writer as a HP CD Witer+ 8200. And HP says that the drivers included in w2k work just fine. Can anyone please help?
Thanks,

Under Win98 (My previous OS) there was no trouble, but for some reason under Win2k, my HP 8250i has to be the master on the secondary IDE channel to work. Just like you the Device Manager detected the drive fine, but I got no drive letter. I fooled around with master/slave jumpers a bit and all works like a charm now.
On another note, the newest version of Nero (5.5.6.4) stupidly doesn't detect the 8200 series anymore, so I have to stick with an older version of it. Bah!
Hope this helps a bit.
