I just noticed in my Event Viewer under system this error:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7026
Date: 11/2/2001
Time: 8:44:39 PM

I can't find any reference as to where it's listed to start up. Plus I don't even have a CDRW.
Never had it in Win2K. And I did a fresh install of XP Pro.
Any ideas on this one?

OP
Well, I found out that this was part of Roxio's Easy Cd Creator. I reinstalled it and the error doesn't happen anymore.
They must have a bad uninstall process.

I had the same problem. After a quick visit to roxio web site I found a patch to correct the install problem. I 1st had to remove the stupid program, then I re-installed it, before re-booting run patch and then re-boot. Problem permanently fixed.
