Hey Folks,

maybe you guys can help me further on this one. I recently purchased the very first version of C&C - Tiberian Dawn. Thus I'm running the NORMAL version, NOT the gold one. It is the windows 95 SVGA version though.

So I used a special installer to get the game installed in WinXP. So far so good. Got the game running by activating the compatibility modus for Windows 95. Now, at some point the game always freezes and the system crashes completely. Even the keyboard LEDs can't be switched anymore (caps lock and shit).

Already tried quite a heap of things.

Tried to get the newest chipset drivers for my mainboard (I'd had this problem solved for Warcraft 3 in the past)

Enabled separate VDM machine operation in the registry ( so not the whole system would crash when the game crashed )

And got the patch that many people who got the Gold version have used.

Nothing helped so far.

Anybody an idea how to solve this problem?

thanks in advance

C&C shouldn't crash. It sounds like you have hardware problems.

Try downloading MemTest86+ (search for it with google) and test your memory overnight.
