Always start simple:
Have you tried the win95 compatibility mode yet? Right click the app or the apps shortcut, and click the compatibility tab, and click "run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select which os you want: probably win95 since that is what it was designed for. let me know if this works, or if you need more help/already tried that
