computer freezes on hl

my computer freezes on halflife during game play both multi and regular and it does it on all the halfife games includein,cs,opfor,tfc i got the latest paatches and update and the amd patch so what could be the problem abit-kt7a-raid amd-athlon-850 maxtor-8.

do you have SP2 installed. Try different vid card drivers i hear the 12.40s are good.
