Countdown (1990) under 2k?

Does anyone have any suggestions about how to run Access Software's Countdown (1990) under Windows 2000? I couldn't get the installation program to run, but by just copying the files and running the.

Does anyone have any suggestions about how to run Access Software's "Countdown" (1990) under Windows 2000?

I couldn't get the installation program to run, but by just copying the files and running the .exe in a full-screen window, I was able to start the game. The opening screen came up and the first soundfile played, but after that, the program locked up.

I don't have the game but are you running any motherboard monitoring utilities? If so uninstall/disable them. Some interfere with NTVDM.

nope, not running any monitoring utilities.
It seems to run fine if I run it with no sound, though. Using the default VDMSound settings and I haven't encountered any problems in other games. Countdown is listed on VDMSound's compatibility list and doesnt mention any problems.
