cpu configuration
This is a discussion about cpu configuration in the Windows Hardware category; Hello i purchased a new motherboard and cpu well the motherboard supports the cpu but i purchased a 1. 8ghz processor and the motherboard only recognizes it as a 1. 35ghz but the motherboard supports the cpu and the computer is running great.
Hello i purchased a new motherboard and cpu well the motherboard supports the cpu but i purchased a 1.8ghz processor and the motherboard only recognizes it as a 1.35ghz but the motherboard supports the cpu and the computer is running great. what could cause that and how do i fix it.

you didnt purchase a AMD XP 1800+ ?
because in AMD the number on the CPU isnt its clock frequenzy.
i dont remember about the 1800 or any of the normal XP series before
BARTON , but my guess is that the 1800 runs around 1.3 and 1.4 GHZ.
so if thats the case, your pc is just fine.
and i sure wouldnt want to clock a 1800+ CPU to 1.8GHZ unless you got some hefty cooling.
not some crappy bulk heatsinks with fan.. hehe
not without a firebrigade anyways.
