This is a discussion about Curse of Monkey Island in the Windows Games category; Hi I am trying to play Curse of Monkey Island in XP. everything works well, but after a short while, when Guybrush starts talking, the voice becomes corrupted. I have tried anything written in the troubleshooting guide, but it the sound just doesn't work well.

I have tried anything written in the troubleshooting guide, but it the sound just doesn't work well. maybe it's something with the Win95 sound compability.

I had windows xp before and didnt have any problems with the game. Now I have windows vista and the game started up fine, I watched the opening video and could talk to wally a little but once I started asking questions about the pirate literature it froze and wally repeated the same thing endlessly. I tried running the game in xp compatibility but didnt work. I then ran the game using scummvm ( www.scummvm.org) - a free and quick download and now the game is working fine. I thought maybe the cd was scratched and that was the problem as it did have a bunch of light scratches but that wasnt the problem and now it works great.
