Dance eJay 3 crashes under Windows 2000

I got it for Christmas, and it generally only runs for about 30 seconds before popping up a "This program has encountered an error and will be shut down".
It's meant to run ok under Win2k, so I'm not sure what the problem is. I have all the updates for Windows 2000 and DE3 but it still crashes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
